Movie Review: 9

by James Evans

It’s too bad that Wall-E came out first because there are definitely comparisons to that movie even though they are very different. Humans are gone (but not in space) and there are these creations that are living on. But why? What is their purpose? It’s an interesting movie and it looks incredible, better than Wall-E even, which I didn’t like as much as the rest of you. I say you should give it a shot.

Movie Review: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

by James Evans

I have never read the kids book, not that you have to, so it was just another movie for me. Not something that I remembered fondly from my childhood. I also didn’t see it in 3D although now I kinda want to. I really liked the movie. I think it’s great for kids and adults. Lots of colors and food and fun going on. There are some great gags. I especially liked the ongoing ones with the TV remote control and the Ratbirds. And the Gummy Bears towards the end were hilarious. Great voice cast too. Not sure where they could get a sequel out of this one but I wouldn’t mind seeing one.

Movie Review: A Perfect Getaway

by James Evans

Hmmm, I liked this movie but I don’t expect you to. It’s well told for what it is even though it is not a surprise with what happens in the end. And a couple of scenes don’t work with what it turns out to be so that is a failure right there but I liked everyone in it. Or maybe it was just because I had just watched G.I. Joe.

Movie Review: G.I. Joe

This is a terrible movie written and made for 5-year-olds. Except that thousands of people are killed. Laugh-out-loud bad from the beginning in 1641 France all the way to the end.

Movie Review: Julie & Julia

by James Evans

The story about Julia is okay and the one about Julie is okay. If they had gotten lesser actresses I don’t think this movie would have worked. Meryl Streep is always amazing and she is great as Julia Child. Amy Adams just may be the next Meryl and once again is captivating on screen.

Movie Review: Funny People

Judd Apatow’s latest is not as terrible as Knocked Up but it still lacks something. The end game takes way too long to get to but it is a more believable ending than I expected. The preview shows most of the movie which is always too bad. There are some really good parts and if they cut 45 minutes I might have enjoyed it more. The funniest part though is that Adam Sandler does a routine at a MySpace gala and they say repeatedly “Fuck Facebook.” I don’t remember the last time I saw anything interesting on MySpace and thought they had pretty much given up.
